About Us

St. Paul’s Preschool provides a warm, loving environment in which children can learn and grow through discovery and play experiences.  The preschool is located in the North Hills of Pittsburgh, within St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. The preschool enrolls many children from the Hampton, North Allegheny, North Hills and Shaler Area school districts, as well as the Pine-Richland, Fox Chapel, Deer Lakes and Mars school districts. St. Paul’s Preschool has been nationally accredited by NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children) since 1993 and is a STAR 4 educational program. Classes are available for children aged two years through Pre-K (five year olds). Located in a cozy neighborhood environment, children can make use of a lovely outdoor classroom and two spacious playground areas. Four and Five year old students have weekly Science and Music/Movement Resource classes and can attend a STREAM (Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Art and Math) enrichment class offered once per week. St. Paul’s Preschool reaches out to the community as an inclusive, non-judgmental and accepting early childhood educational program. Families from many faiths and ethnic backgrounds make up our preschool community! We have worked with many different agencies (DART, The Alliance for Infants and Toddlers, Wesley Family Services, Achieva, Family Behavioral Resources, The Watson Institute, Community Alternatives, Inc.) offering early intervention services for our students. We keep our adult/child ratios lower than the state requirements so that our two year old classes have one adult for every 5 children, our three year old classes have one adult for every 7 children and our four and five year old classes have 1 adult for every 8 children. Our teaching staff remains up to date with teaching techniques and new developments in the early childhood field by taking many hours of continuing education each year. Every staff member is Pediatric First Aid/CPR trained. We utilize Google Classrooms as a way to let families know what their children do each day in class. We post class announcements, photographs of the class in session, monthly calendars and newsletters and interactive learning activities for when the class cannot meet in person (snow days, utility shut down, etc.)
